The Vocal Ring Studio - Studio Policy

Students age 7 and above may take lessons at The Vocal Ring Studio. Two types of lessons are offered:

Recurring Lessons - The learning process is ideal when a student maintains a regular lesson schedule. There are no quick fixes when it comes to vocal development. Therefore, a consistent lesson schedule ensures optimum improvement in technique and overall musicianship.

À la carte Lessons – À la carte lessons are a good option for students who have particularly demanding schedules, are seasonal (our “snowbird” friends), or who are more advanced and would benefit from periodic vocal coachings.

Scheduling

For students who wish to have recurring lessons, once you secure a lesson time slot you are financially obligated for those lessons. Any conflicts with the lesson calendar must be communicated prior to securing a slot. If a student must discontinue lessons, a written, thirty-day notice is required. Payment is due during this thirty-day period whether lessons are taken.

Attendance
  • Frequency and Duration: Lessons are 30, 45, and 60 minutes in length. For the beginning young singer, 30 minutes is an ideal lesson length. 45-minute lessons are recommended for adult beginning students or for singers who would like to work on music theory/ear training. Intermediate and advanced students are encouraged to take 60-minute lessons.
  • Cancellations: A student should let the teacher know as soon as possible if he/she needs to reschedule a lesson. Lessons canceled with less than 24-hour notice will be forfeited, and the student will lose the opportunity for a make-up lesson. If a student is a no-show for their lesson regardless of circumstance, their missed lesson is forfeited.
  • Make-Up Lessons: You may request a make-up lesson for (1) lesson per semester for illness/emergency. Make-up lessons will occur during the same week as the regularly scheduled lesson, if possible. If an in-person lesson is not possible, the lesson will be virtual (Zoom/FaceTime).
  • Virtual Lessons: In the case of inclement weather or other circumstances that prevent a student from coming to the studio, lessons will be virtual (Zoom/FaceTime).
  • Tardiness: Every effort is made to run a tight studio schedule. Often, lessons are scheduled back-to-back. If a student will be late for a scheduled lesson, he/she should notify the teacher. Upon arrival, the student will receive the remainder of his/her time. If a student is more than 15 minutes late without notification, it will be assumed that the lesson is being forfeited.
 Payment
  • Recurring Lessons - Monthly lesson fees are due by the 1st of the month. Regular payments help both teacher and student understand their obligations, save time, and help avoid misunderstandings. Your payment covers a specific, mutually agreed upon time slot in my schedule.
    • Credits: If a lesson is canceled by the teacher and a lesson cannot be rescheduled at a mutually convenient time in the same month, the student will receive a credit for the following month.
    • Late Fee: If payment is not received by the 10th of the month there is a $20 late fee.
  •  À la carte Lessons – Payment is made at the time the lesson is booked to secure the slot. Students must adhere to the attendance policy. Failure to provide 24-hour cancellation notice will result in the lesson being forfeited.
  • Payment Methods: Venmo (@Laura-Ferranti-3), ApplePay, or Zelle
